DAY 1 : TANGER -CHAOUEN
ESTRELLA VIAJES will pick you up at the port or airport. During the morning we will explore Tangier, visiting the Museum of Moroccan arts Dar El Makhzen and the small souk in the heart of the Medina. In the company of our driver-guide we will arrive in Tetouan called “the white dove” – located in the foothills of the Rif and facing the sea – to visit the attractive medina. Then we will go to Chaouen. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
DAY 2 : CHAOUEN – FEZ
After breakfast we will get lost in the little streets of the “blue village”. Chaouen, which in Berber means “the horns”, is a beautiful city where the contrast of the white houses with the strong blue of its doors and windows and the green environment provided by the river Lau is striking. In the afternoon we will travel to Fez, the spiritual capital of Morocco where we will spend the night. Dinner and overnight in hotel.
DAY 3 : FEZ – FEZ
Full day guided tour of the oldest of the imperial cities. Founded in 808 as the first political, religious and cultural capital. We will start the visit at the Golden Gates of the Royal Palace. Then, from a high point, we will observe the wall that encloses an impressive and ancient medina, which we will then walk through experiencing the many sensations it awakens. We will discover mosques, madrasas, karabansarais and religious sites until we reach the tanners’ quarter. After lunch we will continue visiting the craftsmen’s quarter. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
DAY 4 : FEZ – MEKNES-RABAT
After breakfast, transfer to Meknes, city linked to the name of Moulay Ismail, the great sultan of the Alouita dynasty. Visit the walled Medina of the city, the Bab Mansour gate and the place el Hedim. Later we will visit Volubilis: the ruins of the ancient Roman capital of Tingitania Mauritania. After lunch in Meknes we will continue our journey to Rabat where we will sleep. Dinner and overnight in hotel.
DAY 5 : RABAT- CASABLANCA -MARRAKECH
After breakfast, we will make a brief panoramic tour of Rabat where we will see the exterior of the Royal Palace and its gardens, the Hassan Tower and the Mausoleum of Mohamed V. Continue to Casablanca to admire and photograph the exterior of the Hassan II Mosque overlooking the sea. After lunch we will continue to Marrakech.
DAY 6 : MARRAKECH
After breakfast we will have a guided tour of Marrakech starting with the Menara gardens with its pond, the Saadian tombs where the founders of the city are located, the Bahia Palace, residence of the former vizier; the Koutobia, splendid minaret, to finish in the suggestive and stimulating Djemaa El Fna Square, in the morning a great souk and in the evening a magical show. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
DAY 7 : MARRAKECH- OUARZAZATE-ZAGORA
This will be a day where we will discover the old Morocco.
After breakfast we will immerse ourselves in some of the most stunning mountain scenery of the country. We will cross the High Atlas through the Tichka, a 2,260 m pass. At one point, we will leave the road to arrive, driving through the mountain, to what was once the Kasbah of Pacha el Glaoui. On the way to the Kasbah Telouet, we will see the magnificent valley of Ounila with its olive and almond trees as well as the life of the Berber villages. This road will take us directly to the fortified village of the famous Kasbah of Ait ben Haddou, the most beautiful of the Thousand Kasbah route. – Former port of caravans of those who came from different parts of the world crossing the Sahara desert by camel – where movies like Gladiator, Obelix and Sahara, among others, have been filmed. At the end of the visit we arrive in Ouarzazate.
At the agreed time we will leave towards the Anti Atlas to have a panoramic view of the Drâa valley enjoying the beauty of the landscape that bring more than a thousand palm trees that are there. We will have lunch in a Kasbah in the middle of the valley and with the energies recovered we will continue towards the Gate of the Desert: Zagora. In Zagora we stay and prepare for dinner. Dinner and overnight in a Riad.
DAY 8 : ZAGORA – MERZOUGA
After breakfast we will visit the ancient Koranic Library, a handicraft factory and a subway Kasbah. We will return to the adventure with our 4×4 taking a route where only animals and some nomadic families inhabit, a stage of pure desert track awaits us covering about 280 km of the “Paris-Dakar Rally”, crossing sand rivers, dry lakes, endless plains. On the way we will observe the life of nomadic families and experience what it is like to live in the desert as we drive parallel to the Algerian border. At noon we will have lunch in a refuge in the surroundings of Tafraout. Then, we will continue on track until we reach the amazing golden dunes of Erg Chebbi next to Merzouga. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
DAY 9 : MERZOUGA – TOUR OF THE DUNES – NIGHT IN THE OASIS
This will be a stage where after breakfast we will travel another of the tracks used in the “Paris-Dakar Rally” visiting desert nomads with whom we will have tea. We will see an oasis in the middle of the desert where some movies were filmed as “Sahara”, starring Penelope Cruz. We will also visit Khamlia, the village of “the blacks”, so called because of the slave trade brought from Sudan, where we will enjoy their music, fruit of the mixture of the culture brought from deep Africa and the Berber customs and after lunch we will change the traction of the 4×4 for the animal traction. The camels will take us to the heart of the desert to contemplate an unforgettable sunset. This night will be special, in the dunes we will sleep in nomad tents (Jaimas) as the Berbers do. We will enjoy a Berber dinner, music and a starry sky as you have never seen before. Dinner and overnight in unforgettable Jaima.
DAY 10 : OASIS TOUR – MERZOUGA.
Today is a day of adventure in the dunes. After waking up in the desert and watching the sunrise from the top of a dune we will return to the lodge for breakfast. Later, we will go around the dunes of Erg Chebbi, visiting a Berber village in the middle of the desert living in adobe houses. There we will share a tea with them. Back to the lodge you will have free time to walk on the dunes and enjoy the calm of the desert. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
DAY 11 : MERZOUGA – TODRA – DADES
After breakfast we will leave for Rissani, where we will visit the market and its famous donkey parking. It is a very curious place where they come to stock up all the nomadic tribes of the desert. Continue to Erfoud to visit a fossil quarry with an antiquity of more than 380 million years. Lunch on the way to the Todra Gorges, a favorite place for climbers and trekking enthusiasts. On the way to Dades we will observe the hills of different colors. Dinner and overnight in hotel.
DAY 12 : DADES – MARRAKECH
Again we will cross the High Atlas towards Marrakech but passing through a new place. We will pass through different Berber villages of the Atlas. On the way, we will visit the valley of Roses – famous for the elaboration of cosmetics made with this flower – and the palm grove of Skoura and its Kasbahs. In the afternoon we will be arriving at the so-called red city “Marrakech”. Free time until dinner time. Dinner and overnight at hotel.
DAY 13 : MARRAKECH – AIRPORT.
Breakfast at the hotel and at the indicated time, transfer to the airport. End of the trip and end of our services.
